Located just outside the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, the Edgell Patches are two submerged reefs. The diving here tends to be deeper and there is a perfect mix of coral and fish life to keep everyone happy!

The dive sites range from 12-25m+ in depth and usually have a slight current, making a great drift dive! As we are able to go a bit deeper here, this is a fantastic choice for divers who have their Advanced open water certificates as the coral reef is breathtaking down at 20m, however for those Open water divers the reefs can still be enjoyed up to 18m and there is plenty to see!

The dive sites are only 20 minutes away from Kota Kinabalu, and have some immaculate hard and soft corals to explore! The reefs are rich with marine life, on an average dive you could see large schools of juvenile barracudas, plenty of fascinating macro life such as nudibranchs, shrimps, crabs & much more…..for those who enjoy larger marine life there is a chance of seeing black tip reef sharks and majestic hawksbill turtles!

The southern part of the pair of submerged reefs, has a maximum depth of approximately 25 metrs and is suitable for open water divers and above. The average visibility is around 10-20 metres.

The top of the submerged reefs sits at about 13m, and the coral reef continues to slope gently down to a depth of 25m. South Edgell patch is home to exquisite schools of reef fish, different types of frogfish, lobsters, and larger pelagic fish such as reef sharks and barracudas.

North Edgell Patch, the northern part of the pair of submerged reefs, has a maximum depth of around 30metrs, starting with a plateau sitting at 12metrs, sloping down to its maximum depth.

 This dive site tends to have larger congregations of schooling fish to admire, along with a greater chance to see large pelagic species. Be aware that safety stops will be made in blue for both these sites as the reef is submerged, however they will be done safely with your professional guide.
